Two weeks ago I wrote an article on Gospel Brunches as an alternative to worship services, and everyone is ignoring it. It is located on the wabiSABI web site.
A snippet:
"The band was all African American and all male. Retro-Motown, minus the Afros. They rocked and club pulsated with sound. They shared the gospel story in their songs, and in between their songs, and because of their songs. There was no sermon. A sermon was not needed. It was all said in the stories and songs. And the people loved it.
The people love it every week. All over the country. Even in Germany and beyond. Something tells me that this is not just an American thang. It's a world thang! But we, the Body of Christ and Keeper of all that is spiritual and holy, will pretend that Gospel Brunches do not exist.
Why?
1. We did not invent the Gospel Brunch. We can take no credit for their success. In fact, their success is an embarrassment to us, since they charge admission of up to 40 dollars and turn people away. And we offer our worship services for free and still cannot fill the seats."
