"Andrew . . . . I feel a call to European missions sometime in the future, but not too soon. And not in the traditional sort of imperialistic way, because a lot of missionaries just piss me off. Also I’m curious how your worship service went that you wrote about on the Ooze. JC, Penn.
Hi JC. I hope you make it to Europe or wherever God is leading you to. We are over here as pilgrims on a transformative journey with God and people. We give gifts and receive the gifts that the people and nations have for us. We tell stories and throw parties. In cities where Jesus lovers are rare (like Prague, a city of over 1 million people but less than 5 thousand believers), the people are mysteriously attracted to our life style of celebration and freedom and want to join in the dance, in the walk with God. We encourage them to throw parties in their houses and tell the story of what is happening to them. We support them in this effort and watch with delight as God brings their friends into the dance and the celebration leaks all over the city. We are seeing this in many cities and countries. It is very different that Old School Missions and missionaries that arrive to tell everyone what to do.
I am using the world "Pilgrimage" to distinguish it from "Patronage". We are working on making it easier for believers like yourself to get mobile, become fluid, get to where the Spirit is woo-ing you and survive when you get there. And of course to leave behind a transformed group of partying people and a reconnected society behind when you leave. Appreciate your prayers for us as we develop the necessary tools and make a way for this to happen.
Regarding the worship service I spoke of in The Ooze, we called it Epicenter and it is one of many prophetic worship installations we have done. You can read articles or see a QT Movie. The last Epicenter event was in Prague and we now have some images of part of that installation that involved a wedding.
