Question from Canada:
"Andrew, . . . I have a friend in XXXX who had been a XXXX pastor here, but isn't anymore as he lost vision and interest for the institutional side of church. But he is gripped and driven by the vision of community intersecting with prayer that he sees historically in the Moravians at Hernhutt(sp?) and the houses of prayer / postmodern monastaries that are springing up everywhere. Do you have any ideas of good folks where he might look to join in on or learn more of such things?
JJ, Canada.

Hi JJ. First of all, check out the photo I took last year of the chapel at Hernhutt. This is where they prayed for 100 years. The girl is my daughter, Abigail. Isn't she cute? Wanna see photos of my whole family? . . .Oh, sorry . . .back to the question.
Ah . .pomo monastaries. Yes. Two things spring to mind.
24-7 Prayer in UK are combining prayer (24-7 prayer rooms) with monastic communities (boiler rooms) that they call Boiler Rooms. I will be with these guys in a few week in Spain.
Marc Van Der Woude of Joel News is connected to prayer movements in Europe and the new network that started last month at Hernhutt called Connect Europe
There are some articles worth reading at Cutting Edge regarding the Vineyards effort to start these communities (Amy on our team in Prague was in one of their monastic houses - I visited them last year - very cool!) and if you want to read more, then the best resource I know is called "Godspace 4 the New Edge" by Brad Sargent, who wrote about the Celtic Community that we ran in San Francisco.
