for sometime now i've been gardening "this way". it's my preferred metaphor for my work.... ugly bulbs in the fall become tulips in the spring. i just put'em into fertile ground and clear away the weeds. they grow silently and invisibly without my help until one day all the colors explode into view. over 100 tulips are in bloom in our garden right now... church planting seems to work the same way. when the one who plants looks at the ugly bulbs he already sees the beautiful flowers they will become...
