Well we made it to Switzerland but not as easily as we thought. Reinhold picked us up in his minivan, along with as much camping gear as we could stuff onto his roof rack, and away we went. Smooth sailing. For about 30 minutes. At which point his van died and we pulled over to the side of the Italian autostrada and waited for another tow truck. 2 hours later we were riding up on top of the tow truck, still in the van, just like we did 2 days earlier with the motorhome.
The story doesnt end there. The mechanics did not have a new fuel pump and the insurance covered our train ride home first class, no less. We were all very excited. Until we found out that a landslide had blocked the path to Switzerland and we started on a train to bus, bus to train adventure that took the whole day.
So, in one day, our family, comprising of 5 children and my wife, along with Jessica, traveled to Switzerland in a total of one car, one van, one tow truck, three trains and three buses.
But we made it. Thats the main thing.
