Here is part what we did in London last weekend at GRACE church in Ealing for the church service on spirituality within a Consumer Culture. It was written by a friend of Jonny Baker's in London.

Big Macfession
In this prayer we are using MacDonalds as a cultural symbol of our time, but we all share in the values and principles that MacDonalds represents. We eat the food we make.
Response: HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US

Christ of the wilderness hear our confession;
We are MacDonalds, we confess our sin,
This is our temple, where we eat our fast feasts,
We are ready to enjoy a happy meal, but not to eat a meal of sadness for injustice.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready to be scared about BSE for our children but not to fear theh effects of starvation for the children of others.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready to throw away our containers and to throw away our rainforests.
We are ready to eat Big Macs in any city of the world, but not to mourn the death of cultures.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready to enjoy the cheapness of the prices, but not to grumble for the low wages of those who do Mac jobs.
We are ready to think that Big Mac is better Mac, but not to think that small is beautiful.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready to send our fathers there on Saturdays but not to demand that they are there for their children the rest of the week.
We are ready to see the brightness of other colours but not the loneliness on the faces.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready for Ronald MacDonald and his good causes, but not to change the world ourselves.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready to eat fast food but not to make slow relationships.
HUNGRY GOD - HAVE MERCY ON US
We are ready to eat fast food but not to fast.
