This weekend was "Childrens Day" which is a big and typical Christian ministry event - the kind where the churches and ministries get together and rent a ridiculously large stadium as an exercise in faith that God will bring the multitudes.
But He often doesn't (He is not as impressed with crowds as we are) and so the organizers end up with more space and less people than they anticipated and people come and say "where is everyone", and "what a pity such a small number came" and "This is really LAME!" and other comments - I am sure you have heard them also.
Personally, I much prefer the "crowded room" concept, where you have more people than space and you have to remove tables and chairs to make room, and have to open us new spaces, and people are being lifted down from the ceiling cause there is no room . . . no . . .wait a minute . . .that was one of Jesus's parties, not mine.
But anyway, some people did come, enough to keep God happy. And there was lots of activities for the kids. The speaker for the event had flown all the way from USA - Susan Milner - she did a great job sharing the gospel of Jesus through 5 colors - we loved her so much that we decided to bring her home with us.
Which we did.
Really.
She is living downstairs in our basement.
She was living there before the event also, BTW, having arrived in Prague 2 weeks ago. But Susan really is living with us and will be the official Giant Peach hostess for the summer - being there to welcome the pilgirms, host really important people, nag us like a mother, cover our backs during our pilgrimages, and make sure that someone mows the lawn.
We thank God for her, and we thank her husband who let her come for the summer. We expect to see him sometime soon also.
Of course we had to get her set up with a blog site and hers is now 1 day old. It is called Misfit Mom.
