The event in the Senate yesterday went great. I dressed up real good. You should have seen me! Thanks for your prayers. Sasha gave a speech. Someone forgot the knife for the ceremonial circumcision of the box of books (Books of Moses in Czech) so Sasha's wife had to bring a dagger from home for the occasion (pity Lorena Bobbitt was not present). The highlight was the creative reading of the Song of Solomon.
This is the book published last year with Chagall's sensuous paintings. It was first performed at our church meeting at Club Batalion, then at the International Book Fair, and now at the Senate. Last night there were 4 actors and muscians to read the Song, reading, playing flute, bongo, guitar, etc, with a Middle Eastern feel, the readers were in costume and they read from the Song while moving, playing with each other, connected by a red sash. It all happened on a large staircase at the Senate with a chandelair hanging in the middle. Government officials and VIP's, and some Christians, encountered the Song of Solomon while sipping on wine. For some of them, it may have been the first experience with the Bible, and I could see they were visibly shaken in this intimate, musical, soothing, encounter with God's Word.
What was I thinking?:
1. No off-limits for God. Jesus wants to go EVERYWHERE and those that tag along with him often find themselves in important places. This is what the Czech believers were thinking.
2. God's word is always welcome. The best sermon in the world would not get into the Senate. Let God do the talking.
