EPICENTER - Email today - I get these all the time. I am posting this because of all the related EPICENTER links.
Dear Andrew,
My name is Barbara, and as worship pastor [in] Melbourne, Australia, I was most interested to read your article "From Rock To Rave" in the Worship Leader magazine.
At the moment I and our church pastoral team are thinking through the relevance of the institutionalised church to our post-modern, extremely secular society, and how best we can minister to our community.
Do you have any further information, suggestions, background that you would be willing to share with us, and do you have any other "orders of service" for post-modern worship times? I was excited by the event you described in the article but would be very interested in the processes and planning which led up to it.
I would be very grateful for any insights you might be able to share.
Thank you so much. God bless you, Barbara
HI Barbara
Best info source right now is smallfire.org but in a few months, look out for altworship.org.
Let me share a little about Epicenter.
The Epicenter event was an incredible happening for all of us who were involved. We had an intense experience with God and each other. We invited 100 leaders of emerging movements, networks and ministries, and a number of worship artists from Europe and USA (but no Aussies, unfortunately) to participate. There were no main speakers but rather a roundtable/tribal-elder type structure. We all felt that we were part of something God was birthing. Since the event, there have been many movements and events that are related to it, such as house church training events, art installations, leader roundtables, etc. It took place in Austin, Texas and we used the large Austin First Baptist Church. The worship element took a team of artists many days to put together the experience. The next Epicenter event, called Epicentrum, will be in Prague, CZ the last week of June 2002. In USA, the closest thing in this year will be Search Party

Barbara, I would love to see what you are doing. I have heard great things about the creativity of Melbourne. I will be in Australia next month (Brisbane, Sydney and Perth) but will not make it to Melbourne this time. Perhaps the next trip. Please keep in touch.
