Dresden, Germany (2 hours from Prague) - partially underwater and in need of prayer.
Karsten Wolff of the youth church Kraftwerk writes
"At the moment our hometown Dresden is under water. We have the greatest flood catastrophe in history in our federal state Saxony. The army is evacuating 2000 patients from 5 hospitals of the city and rescuing many people from the roofs of their houses or trees since days. It’s a bit like war. Over 30.000 people have to leave their flats in Dresden. And the number is increasing hourly. Some quarters of the city are complete under water. And there’re many other towns under the flood in East Germany. The water level of the river Elbe is 8.50 meter (normal is 1.50 meter). And the flood is constant rising. The police, the army and emergency ambulances are doing a great job.
The German government said yesterday the advance and development of infrastructure, industries, way of life etc. of the last then years after the wall come down is totally destroyed in Saxony.
At KRAFTWERK we have no problems because we are at a higher place of the city.
Please pray with us, that God will use that situation to open up the eyes of the people of our rich country for the spiritual dimension of life.
In Jesus we trust.
Karsten "
